About this cause

Whitecross Scout Group offers fun, challenge and adventure to around 80 young people, supported by 15 adult volunteers, administrators and trustees. We believe in helping our young people fulfill their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. Through the adventure of Scouting, young people get to take risks in a safe environment, and have their first taste of responsibility. The sort of adventure Scouting offers is the chance to experience something different and the opportunity to challenge yourself. When a Beaver Scout wakes up the morning after a sleepover, or Cub Scout has just got over her fear of heights by completing her first abseil - that’s adventure. We are working to make Scouting available to all and we are passionate about what we do.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. Through our work with young people in our community they become active and responsible members of their local, national and international communities. Furthermore the equipment purchased could be shared with other local groups.
