About this cause
The League of Friends of Caithness General Hospital ensures patient comfort within all areas of the hospital. Any money received by them, whether by donation or fund raising, is ploughed into the hospital to ensure patient comfort. The committee keeps in close contact with the hospital, through speaking to wards and hospital managers. Cuts in NHS budgets have seen their work recently become more important. The project we have in mind is a Sara Stedy chair. It is a mobility-promoting support tool that encourages more mobile patients to stand up independently; it offers a more suitable and dignified alternative to a wheelchair; and it provides transportation to the toilet and washbasin, and can support a wide range of other everyday activities. It minimises manual handling by caregivers.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This project will help the local hospital greatly as per the description above. It will help to minimise the risks and effort that comes from normal manual assistance, making this everyday routine a far simpler and easier process that takes less time out of the patient's day.
