About this cause

The RNLI saves lives at sea around the UK and the Republic of Ireland through its network of lifeboats and lifeguards. In 2016 Arbroath's lifeboat crew launched 37 times & rescued 15 people, & in the process saved 6 lives. The volunteer crew trained for over 545 hours & were on service for over 190 hours. These volunteers are members of the local community, regularly giving up their time to train & are ready to drop whatever they're doing when their pager sounds, day and night. Our fundraising team works tirelessly to help cover the costs of training, kit, fuel, maintenance and repairs. At Arbroath these costs average around £185k per year - anything to help towards this would literally help save lives at sea.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Raising money to pay towards the ongoing running costs of Arbroath lifeboat station will ensure its continued presence in the community along with highly trained and well kitted out volunteers who are ready and willing to drop everything when their pagers go off to go and rescue anyone who needs their assistance on the water
