We want to fully restore the historic 100 year old Binns pipe organ to give the church a reliable and flexible organ for the next 100 years.
About this cause
St Michael's Church serves the community of Farnsfield and has done so for centuries. There are regular worship groups throughout the week which are ecumenical, special occasion services such as baptisms, weddings and funerals and various "outreach" activities throughout the community with a special emphasis on strong links with St.Michael's Primary School in the village. Our 100 year old Binns pipe organ is in urgent need of a full restoration in order to provide high quality musical accompaniment to Worship and Community concerts and Recitals as our Church attracts many musical groups. The appointment of a renowned musical director to begin in the Parish in November 2017 will expand this work to include an all ability community choir.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Church has been at the heart of the community of Farnsfield for hundreds of years and the organ is an integral part of weekly worship and special community services like baptisms, weddings and funerals. The Church is also a venue for many visiting choirs and music groups, providing concerts for the community. Plans to develop a Community choir and stronger links to the school are planned.
