We want to open the club to an older age group and expand into new activities including film making and wood carving.
About this cause
Our organisation is a charitable company set up to involve the community of Killearn in making the village an even better place to live. It comprises a number of separate autonomous groups, each with its own finance to carry out a particular community project. Each group comprises volunteers who give their time to carrying out the project of the group, which may involve planning, getting physically involved, fund-raising, etc. In particular it runs the village hall which hosts a number of activities including a newly-formed youth club.
How this cause brings people in the community together
As with all rural communities, facilities for young people are difficult to provide. The village has been fortunate in having a excellent venue in KCFC's village hall with a purpose-built games room and doubly fortunate in attracting volunteers. It is a constant battle to raise finance and the Co-operative Local Scheme is an opportunity for the community to directly contribute.
