We want to buy quality equipment such as tents to take all the beavers, cubs and scouts camping.
About this cause
1st Gwydyr Scout troop was set up in February 2015 by 2 mums seeking to provide unique opportunities, wider peer groups & broader horizons for young people in rural Conwy. In the 1st year, we had full Beaver & Cub units and by the summer of 2016, it was clear we also needed a Scout troop. We now provide weekly meetings plus additional activities & camps for over 50 young people from ages 6 - 14, with a team of 13 volunteers. Our aim is to help children and adults within the area reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We desperately need to purchase camping and outdoor equipment to allow us to take these young people out on more adventures.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The young people and volunteers that make up Gwydyr Scout Troop come from the Conwy valley and surrounding area. By purchasing camping equipment, we would be able to take these young people camping, giving opportunities to form friendships and learn valuable lifeskills. It will allow us to attend larger Scouting events. We would consider loaning the kit to other local community organisations.
