We wish to install a security gate across our the rear of our building and link it to the alarm systems of the church.
About this cause
We are a town-centre Christian Church with a large Community Centre in addition to our sanctuary. Whilst our commitment to worship, mission and service is central to our very existence what really counts is our 'faith expressing itself in love'. Our premises are open from 9.00 am to 10.30 pm for the benefit of the public. Cafe Wesley (part of our Community Centre) is available for any-one to 'chill out', have a hot drink, perhaps a meal or light snack and take advantage of the free WiFi. We have a commercial kitchen which prepares about 50 Meals on Wheels each day in addition to the in-house catering. Volunteers visit the house-bound in our society to deliver the freshly prepared food. Our premises are in constant use for sports and music groups, and Conference facilities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Victoria Street community will be more relaxed in the knowledge that from their homes they will not be able to witness the anti-social behaviour of drunks and drug takers. The police, town council and town BID are extremely supportive of the steps that we are taking to improve the environment for the Victoria Street people.
