2nd Raynes Park (St Saviour) Guides
Young People
We would like to provide much needed replacement tents and equipment so future guide generations can experience camping.
About this cause
2nd Raynes Park Guides has been a part of our local Community since 1946 over 70 years. Our unit helps run stalls at the Summer and Christmas fair. We have bag packed at Christmas at our local Waitrose, sang Christmas Carols at Raynes Park Station for commuters and at the residents home. Our unit's objectives are to provide guides aged 10-16 with fun, adventure, teach lifelong skills and provide challenge, such as carpentry skills, pioneering skills, survival skill, care for the community and environment. Provide activities to instil confidence such as trying abseiling, canoeing, dry slope skiing, archery. To make friends and create lifelong happy memories. To try new things such as camping, lighting fires and back to basics a world away from electrical gadgets and mobile phones.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Generations of guides will get to experience camping away from an inner London setting to rural environments. Camping teaches life long skills such as pioneering, first aid, bush craft, lighting fires, using saws, cooking, caring for the environment.
