About this cause

Speak Out in Hounslow ( SOH) supports Learning Disabled (LD) adults, resident in the London Borough of Hounslow, to Speak Out be heard and affect change. It is a user led organisation formed in 1986 that listens and works with it's members to ensure that all the services it offers are needed, required and accessible. we have four main project areas; The Campaigns, Consultation and Partnership project, that is led by LD volunteers who identify current issues that are having detrimental effect on the well being of LD people. The Travel Training project offers a bespoke service in order to encourage independence and confidence whilst travelling. The Empowerment, Outings and Tasters projects supports LD adults to make friends, learn skills and try new activities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The community will benefit from the project as they will be greeted and welcomed at their chosen theatre performance by trained volunteers. The volunteers will be on hand to answer their questions about the theatre's facilities and will be able to direct them appropriately . In addition the project will enable the community to become more aware and empathetic to diversity and learning disability.
