We want to provide one to one support for people wishing to face their addictions who cannot afford to contribute to their sessions.
About this cause
Alcohol, gambling and drug use are major problems and B&NES is no exception. Reason provides a unique service to people with problems related to their addictive behaviours (alcohol, gambling or other substances) which is not provided by other publicly commissioned services or charities within B&NES. Reason provides individualised help; a discreet service with no shared waiting room; and without group-working. People with addictive-type problems, seek help at different stages: soon when severely dependent, others much sooner. We work with people at any stage of their substance use or gambling, but encourage people to address their problems as early as possible, rather than waiting until the problem has become more severe, thus improving the likelihood of better outcomes for them.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Resources spent in helping individuals address their issues with addictive behaviours, results in of benefits for the individuals and the wider community, such as improved personal safety, safety to those around, an improvement in health, possibly improved sleeping patterns, social responsibility and financial as well as benefits to the general public, public services, families, work and business.
