About this cause

Our charity is too recently formed to yet be at a stage where we can help people. But we will! We hope this appeal will help us to reach that stage. Objectives and what we will do for people: To acquire and restore The Steading at Blainslie, home of the late Tim Stead: visionary artist, sculptor, furniture maker, environmentalist & poet. To make it available free for the public to visit. To provide local jobs in this rural part of the borders to hold community activities for local people. To provide a resource for students and apprentices. To provide a resource for researchers to continue Stead's legacy by holding workshops for children and adults on the environment, poetry, sculpture, music and wood working. To take Stead's work to the wider public through travelling exhibitions.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project will create & maintain jobs in the local area; we will provide improved public car parking for Blainslie Village; we will hold community workshops and events throughout the year (on the environment, music, poetry, children's events, wood skills, art & design); and we will have preserved from destruction a most remarkable and important building & made it freely available to the public.
