About this cause
Garforth Brass is a local brass band which is continuing to build up its profile in the local area, with concerts in Garforth Miners Welfare Hall, Garforth Methodist Church and the wider community. With support from previous funding we have been able to set up a Training Band to encourage even more local people to learn to play an instrument. The members of the band not only benefit by making friends and from being part of a group, but also grow in self confidence as they grow in musical ability. Our influence extends as well to members of the audience at our concerts, who enjoy listening to the music we play, which ranges from pop to classical, marches to hymn tunes and more! Our aim is to keep live music happening in Garforth and to entertain and benefit as many people as possible.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By encouraging the progression of locally trained young (and not so young!) people from the Training Band to the Senior Band, we will be able to ensure the band continues to offer live music concerts in Garforth. It also means more aspiring musicians will have the opportunity to learn to play and develop in the future, giving many more local people a chance to experience and enjoy music-making.
