About this cause

The Glossopdale Furniture Project collects donations of furniture and other household items from the public. We help people on low incomes with affordable furniture. We also supply free Emergency Furniture Packs for people who have previously been homeless and are setting up a new home. They are given accommodation which is completely empty and very often people are sleeping on the floor with no means to make a hot drink or food. We supply essential items to help them set up their new home which are a bed, sofa, chest of drawers, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, curtains, crockery, and bedding. By providing these items means that the person doesn't get into debt to buy these essential items.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The Glossopdale Furniture Project is the only voluntary organisation in the High Peak offering a service to the public who have unwanted furniture they wish to donate, and helping people on low incomes with affordable (or sometimes free) furniture and other essential items. We collect over 100 tonnes of furniture each year which would otherwise go to landfill.
