Windlesham Field of Remembrance
Sport
We want to replace our current dilapidated pavilion and replace it with a community owned facility to be used by a pre-school.
About this cause
18.5 acres of open space, and Woodland with a privately owned children's playground and pond. Owned, managed and enjoyed by the local residents. Dedicated to the fallen heroes in WW1/WWII and any subsequent conflicts, known as the Windlesham Field of Remembrance. Held in Charity Trust to provide rest and recreation for all who visit, managed by volunteers made up from organisations in the local community. Home to Windlesham United Football youth and adult teams. Also to Windlesham Cricket club. Bagshot and Ascot cricket club play regularly. The facility is visited on average 1000 times a week. Fete, Firework, and Charity runs and football events are yearly held here. Community Green Flag Award, Centenary Field. Have planning permission to rebuild a new Community Pavilion.
How this cause brings people in the community together
It will provide a 'hub' for the local villagers to use and visit. There is currently no 'heart' or one meeting place in Windlesham. The Field of Remembrance has 18.5 acres of open space, ample parking and would provide a place for people of all ages to visit and enjoy. The coffee shop will provide refreshments to support visitors and the users of the Pavilion and outside space.
