About this cause

The Point (formerly a part of Scope) is a long-established day centre for severely physically disabled adults. Most have cerebral palsy, some with MS and other related disabilities. We take a positive, modern attitude and attempt to help members improve their lifestyle generally as well as their confidence and ability to cope. We have a fleet of 4 state of the art buses used for many varied outings. The centre is a meeting place, a place for entertainment and education. We have adapted PC rooms, a Wii & gym facility, appropriate lifting and changing equipment and trained carers. We employ a qualified advocate who acts as go-between with members, carers, families and authority. Our fees, etc, cover running costs; we need to seek funding for equipment, buses and refurbishment.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The well equipped state of the art buses help about 100 members, their carers and families. They are available to the wider community, disabled or otherwise, for hire, or for free, depending on circumstances. Part of our remit is also to make the public and wider community aware of this often forgotten part of real life.
