About this cause

The Kingfisher Trust, a registered Charity (1159152), was formed in 1984 to provide day care, rehabilitation, social interaction for clients and much deserved respite for carers in the Whitchurch, Overton, Oakley, and St Mary Bourne areas of North Hampshire. Based in Laverstoke, we provide varied stimulating activities, companionship and care within a safe environment for older physically or mentally frail people. Activities are designed to provide social, physical and mental stimulation, but above all enjoyment and interest to all clients. We also run a lunch club, members attend the centre using our mini-bus, enjoy a meal, chat and then return home, this ensures our wider community stays connected reducing the risk of isolation.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Being able to share meals with others is essential, something easily taken for granted. Our lunch club gathers together those who could become isolated, rekindling old friendships and supporting new ones. We care for people with dementia during the day, this means their relatives’ can have time to themselves confident their loved ones are safe and entertained in a nurturing environment.
