Ambleside Kirkstone Rotary Duck Race

We want organise a duck race which is both an attractive event for the Ambleside community and raises funds for good causes.
About this cause
As a Rotary Club our objectives are to raise funds which can then be used for a variety of worthy causes, particularly in our local community but also for Intl Rotary causes. Amongst our major fund raising events last year were the Duck Race for the Ambleside Festival of the Fells, bridge afternoon. choral events, organising car parking for local events, proceeds from our wishing well, collections, This was supplemented by donations including a particularly large gift related to our Duck Race . Within the community, last year we supported amongst others, Ambleside Friends of Guiding, British Red Cross (flood response team), N W Air Ambulance, RNLI onshore rescue, Blood Bike, Hospice at Home, St Johns Hospice, Will Clark Fund, Alzheimers Research, Windermere Manor Hotel (for the blind).
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Ambleside Festival of the Fells has been organised to help the community as a whole overcome the repercussions of the devastating floods of 2016. In addition the substantial funds raised from each duck race enables Ambleside Kirkstone Rotary to continue to support good causes including all the work we do within the local community.
