About this cause

The Edinburgh Incidental Orchestra exists to provide high-quality musical performance experience to young people around Edinburgh and the Central Belt. Our performers are the most able of young musicians in the area and are on the cusp of a professional career. The Orchestra works to offer professional-standard concert experience, with a particular view to have innovative programming and vital experience for our performers and audiences. Our members all take a part in the running of the projects as well as the musical performance. Our upcoming relaunch with a Beethoven Cycle will establish the orchestra as filling a particular exciting niche in the musical market in Scotland. We are the foremost youthful and flexible orchestra in the area.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The EIO already performs concerts to an audience of 100-200 people, many of whom do not regularly attend classical music concerts. Our conception over the next 18 months is to continue to expand this to include a wider audience market. We will reach them by online targeted advertising, and by a wider use of venues. We always look to work with other local bodies in putting our concerts together.
