About this cause
As a pipe band, we play for visitors to the island every week from June through to September (an hour each time). This gives the visitors a great sense of the traditions of Scotland and allows them to listen to Scottish pipe music. We are a community group made up of adults and children and also travel all over the highlands playing at highland games, carnivals, shows, etc. The band gives all members a sense of purpose while installing the benefits of commitment, team work, community involvement, a will to improve, etc. Latterly, we have also progressed as a band well enough to compete at major competitions, promoting the name of the Isle of Skye.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We are an integral part of the local island community and get great support from the locals. Skye is an extremely busy island and we provide excellent entertainment for visitors and locals alike throughout the summer months. By attending competitions, we are helping to promote the island name and help show the island in a good light. It will also install pride in the local community.
