About this cause

The School for Parents provides support for the families of babies and infants (<5) with Cerebral Palsy. Families who use our service will often have no prior experience of looking after a child with disability and no clear understanding of what the future holds. Infants with Cerebral Palsy will find it difficult to learn what others of their own age will 'just get'. Communicating and walking or taking a step, or standing or sitting or even being able to move a body part at all can take hours of practice and each child's development and goals will be unique to them. SfP is currently part of Scope -the figure quoted relates to SfP funds only not Scope. In the financial year that this grants applies SfP not be part of Scope and we will have to raise funds our own funds independently.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our community is about babies and young infants living with Cerebral Palsy or other neurological disorder. Our service is provided free of charge and we reach out to many many extended family members within the community. In any one year we have impact on between 100 and 250 people within families the results of our efforts are lifelong and in the course of years that number grows and grows.
