About this cause
Anstruther Improvements Association (the AIA) is a community-led, membership charity based in Anstruther, whose vision is to build a thriving and resilient community, improving Anstruther for all. The AIA provides a range of cultural, social, educational, fundraising and intergenerational events and activities, manages some of the town’s floral displays and the blue plaques, gives out small grants and owns and operates Dreel Halls, the only community space in Anstruther Wester. We also run the annual Anstruther Writing Awards and Anster Cinema, a community cinema at Dreel Halls.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We aim to address local issues and fills gaps in existing community provision. We will do this by providing leisure and recreation opportunities so local residents do not need to travel outside the area. By providing services to fill gaps, we are supporting local people, so that our community becomes stronger and more sustainable.
