We want funds to hold two events offering a range of activities to reduce health, education and social inequalities in the local community.
About this cause
Bellingham Community Project (BCP) is a charity that has been established for over 20 years. It is a subsidiary of the Trust for London which is a charity based in Central London working to help alleviate poverty in the City. Over the past 20 years BCP has worked to deliver some important projects for the Bellingham community which is one of the most deprived in London. It raised the funding to build a new leisure centre and youth gateway in Bellingham and worked to ensure that these buildings provide sustainable and affordable leisure , health and wellbeing-related and activities and services for the local community. The charity looks to continually develop new projects in conjunction with the local community to meet its needs as well as to sustain those already running.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Bellingham Festivals showcase the strengths of the local community and also provide an opportunity for a range of public, private and voluntary organisations to promote their services to the local community. A number of activities, performances and stalls will feature in the largely volunteer-led events promoting specific projects and getting messages across in an informal manner.
