About this cause

Methilhill Community Children's Initiative was established in 2013, to provide groups, clubs and activities for children and young people in the local area. We provide training and volunteering opportunities for all ages. In 2014 we opened Methilhill Community Learning Garden, this area is used to provide a natural learning environment for everyone. We hold family workshops, youth groups and early years care provision. We have made excellent links with local primary schools who now attend the garden 4 days per week. We are in the process of constructing allotments in the local neighbourhood; which will give residents an opportunity to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This course provides basic life skills to over 50 young people allowing them to enhance their traditional education. These skills can be passed to their peers and families. Volunteers will also be involved to help supervise the children, promoting a sense of community. A demonstration café will be held on completion of the course, this will be open to all members of the community.
