About this cause

The Recycled Teenagers is an independent, self-funding club, run by volunteers. Our aim is to stop isolation in the elderly, to help them with the physical, emotional and mental health. We offer a place where they can make and meet friends. We currently have 100 members who regularly come to us and our membership starts from 55 years old, but most of our group are 70 – 95 year olds and many are referred to us by the local GP if they have suffered bereavement of a partner. We provide two coffee mornings a week and a lunch group on a Wednesday and it is well attended by members, and as well as keeping them active, it is sociable and enjoyable. We organise exercise sessions and activities and have 6 day trips a year including one week annual holiday.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This will help the community to socially interact with other like minded people, and for some who don't have families this will be the only opportunity to share in the festive season. For most who live alone they will spend this time in the isolation of their homes with only the television for company. This will give them something to enjoy throughout the loneliest time of the year.
