About this cause
Friends of White Spire (FOWS) is a school charity run solely by volunteers to raise much needed money to support the school and it's pupils to provide much needed materials, resources and facilities for the benefit of all the students. We work in close partnership with the students and their families as well as the surrounding community to raise much needed funds. White Spire school strives to provide a stimulating and caring environment promoting success, achievement and learning for life by working individually with each student. We have 137 students at White Spire all of whom require special educational support, and have various complex and profound disabilities. I am a trustee for the charity and with other volunteers we raise funds via, coffee mornings, raffles within school.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Whitespire school has approx. 140-150 pupils per year with moderate learning difficulties as well as physical difficulties, these children are from the whole of the Milton Keynes area and community. The trim trail will last at least 10 years, all the children that attend the school during that time will benefit from using it on a daily basis. This equates to approx. 380 hours a year of use.
