Stewarton Woodlands Action Trust (SWAT)
Environment
We want to develop a nature trail and viewpoint which overlooks the river, enlisting help from local schools.
About this cause
We maintain paths and woodland areas in Stewarton, mainly Lainshaw Woods. These paths and wooded areas are used by many people for walking, jogging, cycling and some other activities. Over the years, many people have commented on how much they enjoy using the paths, and we have noticed a steady increase in those doing so. If we didn't do the maintenance, the paths would eventually become unusable.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We think this will encourage even more people to use the woods as a means of recreation, and we hope to see more children, either in school groups, or with parents enjoying the outdoors. People always complain there is a lack of things to do, so this will provide a new activity for them, and allow them to get fresh air at the same time.
