We want to improve our volunteering and prevent isolation for people in the local community, regardless of skill set or capability.
About this cause
Coldharbour Mill is one of the oldest woollen mills in the UK having been in continuous production since 1797. Our site is mainly run by volunteers that are typically in retirement age. Our volunteers make new friends, preventing isolation and keep themselves fit and active. Alongside a real passion for the mill and the community that has been built. Our objectives for the future are to improve on the current volunteering structure. Above all, we want volunteering with Coldharbour Mill to be an enjoyable experience, with everyone knowing that they're making a positive contribution.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Uffculmes population holds a large number of people within retirement age. This age group is the most vulnerable to isolation. With the advancements that can be made to our volunteering structure, I believe we can prevent isolation for a large amount of people within the local area, making them feel more involved and a part of their community.
