About this cause

Challengers provide vital play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people. Challengers operates a strong non-exclusion policy and we are proud to say that since first opening in 1979 we have never turned a child away. At Challengers all children are welcomed and valued regardless of how severe their care needs are. Challengers also offers families a vital short break from the daily demands of caring, and Challengers has often been described a ‘life-line’. Our objective is to provide truly inclusive, fun and safe places where all disabled children and young people can spend time with their friends. To offer a positive impact for families and the wider community. We do this to pursue our vision of a world where all children and young people can play together, freely.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Challengers support disabled young people to socialise with friends, develop new skills and play an active part in the community. We also offer respite to families and carers of local disabled young people. Challengers benefits the community beyond our direct beneficiaries by providing employment and volunteering opportunities, with excellent training and continued professional development.
