About this cause

Silverline Memories provides "places to go and things to do" for people living with dementia and those who care for them. We provide a range of opportunities designed to relieve the loneliness and social isolation experienced by a high proportion of people following a dementia diagnosis. Our activities include Dementia Cafes, Tea Dances, an award winning Dementia Carer Support Group, Day Trips on our own mini-bus, The Memory Bus, and a Community Memory Garden where we offer workshops with a qualified social and therapeutic horticulture practitioner. We support around 30 families in our cafe environments and welcome approximately 70 people each month to our dances. We believe that life does not stop with a diagnosis of dementia and there is still much to be enjoyed and joy to be found.

How this cause brings people in the community together

People often report feeling lost following a dementia diagnosis, with no clear signposting to support services. This project will address that and will continue to guide through the dementia journey. As well as the individual we support his/her family, friends, neighbours and colleagues, so helping to maintain individual and community support networks which are vital to living well with dementia.
