We want to give a presentation and provide afternoon tea to a group of older people on the causes, treatment and management of arthritis.
About this cause
We are a local branch of the national charity, Arthritis research UK. We hold local events usually in and around Culcheth village to raise funds for research into the causes and treatment of all forms of Arthritis. The challenge for the ARUK research projects is to find the most effective way to manage and reduce the pain of arthritis, improve the quality of life for all people who suffer from arthritis and to progress towards a cure. We are planning on giving a presentation on the causes and treatment and management of arthritis to Lifetime which is a Warrington based group for older people. Incorporating it with an afternoon tea for all the members. This will be an awareness and fund raising afternoon. We would like the coop to fund the materials for us to supply the afternoon tea.
How this cause brings people in the community together
It will give older people belonging to Lifetime information on managing their arthritis. Empowering them to seek appropriate treatment to manage their pain and learn ways to live an active and productive life with Arthritis. Provide an opportunity for them to socialise with their peers and hopefully encourage them to volunteer for a charity that interests them and utilises their skills.
