About this cause

The Stiwt in Rhosllannerchrugog near Wrexham is home to a beautiful 450 seat proscenium arch theatre, plus three flexible event spaces. Built and maintained by and for its local community. It was first opened on 25th September 1926 then re-built and re-opened in 1999. The Stiwt is a registered charity and is run by the Stiwt Arts Trust Ltd. We see ourselves as a community hub, as well as a theatre and art centre. We provide rehearsal space for all the local choirs and are busy throughout the week with keep fit/dance clubs, which the local community enjoy. We also provide weekly entertainment for the young and old with Film Clubs and Cinema. We also have close ties with local schools.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The Stiwt and it's clock are iconic in our village, and have played a part in our history. The chimes have been silent for some years, as we are unable to fund the reinstatement. Local people miss the hourly chimes, and we've had countless requests for them to be brought back.
