We would like to continue running and maintaining the independent lifeboat at St Abbs.
About this cause
We are an independent lifeboat run by donations from the public in and around our community. We respond to all emergency calls from the coast guard and the public. The boat is manned by volunteers and our objective is saving lives at sea. Our organization's volunteers are constantly on call and heavily involved, not just physically out at sea, but running fundraising events within the community to help fund certain sectors of the maintenance.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The lifeboat is on call 24 hours a day, every day of the year, saving lives at sea, giving assistance to local fishermen and visitors alike. If lifeboats from surrounding areas can not get out of their situation we are the first to respond so we all feel like this is a very important part of our community, especially as our area has a lot of diving activity where the boat gets called out a lot.
