About this cause
Barrow Island Community Sports Trust is a charitable company that provides community and sports facilities for the residents of Barrow Island and surrounding areas. It provides a home ground for Barrow Island junior football and rugby clubs. The charity promotes community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the inhabitants of Barrow Island and surrounding areas, by the provision of facilities for the playing of sports and other leisure activities. It provides a facility that can be used by all at affordable prices, which is inclusive to all and works to tackle social isolation by providing a wide range of activities that will benefit the whole community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The demand for good pitches is high. Participation often falls when games get called off. This project aims to build on what we have already achieved, to provide quality facilities for the residents of Barrow Island and surrounding areas. To create an extra pitch will allow us to meet the demand as we frequently have to turn clubs away. We also could hold a bigger community gala if we develop.
