About this cause

We currently support 1090 people impacted by a neurological hereditary condition, Huntington's disease. At present, there is no cure for this fatal disease and therefore the core aims of the charity are to improve quality of life for people with HD and their families, significantly reduce inequalities experienced by people with HD and their families, raise awareness of HD, and build the capacity of other organisations to support people with HD and their families through training and education. Our Financial Well-being Service has generated £1.4m of financial gains for people and reduced the financial and emotional stress they face, increased the capacity of people to deal with the impact of living with HD, helping to improve their mental ill health and quality of life.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The local community will have a better understanding of the impact of Huntington's disease (HD) on families within local communities. Families impacted by HD will be better placed to get involved with activities. Children will be included and less isolated with improved financial family circumstances. If people understand about HD then they are less likely to stigmatise families and work together.
