About this cause

Bath Cats and Dogs Home provides a place of shelter and safety to over 1,400 unwanted, abandoned and abused local pets every year. We provide them with food, a safe warm bed and any veterinary treatment and training they may need until we are able to re-home them through our adoption scheme. We run an educational programme teaching local children about responsible pet care and safety and provide volunteering opportunities to the elderly, unemployed and isolated. We change the lives of animals like Annie, a young Yorkshire terrier that was rushed to us in labour and in much distress. Our vets had to act fast and perform an emergency c-section. Sadly, two of the five puppies did not survive, but three were saved whom we looked after until they were old enough to be put up for adoption.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our work has a significant impact on the community; working with local councils and dog wardens we provide a place for stray dogs to go, removing them from the streets and providing peace of mind to residents plus a reduced risk of road traffic accidents caused by stray pets. By providing local people with an avenue to find a new pet we are also helping grow and unite families.
