About this cause

Explorer Units are the fourth Section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Explorer Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18 years old. Explorer Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme including traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking, as well as a wider spectrum of adventurous activities. Our unit currently has an establishment of 16 young people and 5 volunteer leaders. Our activities are open to all young people of this age group and are generally outdoors based using the natural area around Braemar, developing young peoples leadership, communication and life skills, whilst ensuring they play an active and positive part in the community.

How this cause brings people in the community together

By developing our young people to mix well, providing them with leadership, communication, team working and life skills which they will be able to use in the community and in life.
