About this cause

Age UK Hillingdon supports older people living in the London borough of Hillingdon. We provide information and advice around benefits, services and support. We run a range of services designed to tackle social isolation including a befriending service and a range of groups and activities. We operate services that support older people in A & E as well as staff who support older people to settle back home following hospital discharge. We provide domiciliary support and companionship as well as support to attend appointments or visit friends. We aim to improve the quality of life for older people using our services, as evidenced by reporting that they are better able to: Look after their home, Look after themselves, Keep safe, Keep in touch with people and life, Manage their money.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This will help make use of an under utilised community centre. We might have open days where our service users show off their new culinary skills and invite people from the local neighbourhood to come and taste their creations! We will help older people who are at risk of isolation, depression and malnutrition to move on with their lives and actively engage in their community.
