We want to enable all disabled people, including those who need hoisting to change, to fully access a day out in North Devon.
About this cause
Our organisation is dedicated to bringing sport to all children and adults in North Devon by providing an all weather multi sports centre. My role is to fundraise for the fully adapted Changing Places disabled toilet which includes a ceiling hoist and changing table. This would be the only one in the area and only the 2nd in the whole of North Devon. This would be open to all disabled locals and holiday makers to use ,as well as opening up sports for disabled people. I need to raise £15000 by the end of March 2018. I am a Mum of a 16 year old with severe cerebral palsy so I know personally how it is so difficult to have a day out because of the lack of these facilities. How this cause brings people in the community together
It will make an enormous difference.the location is near to a large indoor shopping centre frequented by many people in wheelchairs.they will know they can be toileting in comfort, dignity and safety in our new facility. They can stay out longer and access all the local sites. The local special schools and residential homes will be able to have sports sessions for all,not just the more able.
