About this cause

We are a Community Garden with the aims of 1. Education about healthy eating, lifestyle and growing 2. Conservation of the varied wildlife on the 4.5 acre site 3. Purposeful recreation. Being involved in the garden is great for excercise, social interaction and being part of creating a wonderful resource for everyone in Penistone. We are run entirely by volunteers and all the proceeds we make from sales of chemical free veg and plants goes back into develiping the garde. Over 10 years volunteers have reclaimed the former derelict site and now it is a vibrant community asset with raised beds, polytunnels, orchard, recreation green space, pond, flower border, hive, nature area and an amazing Physic Garden. We are used by scouts, cubs, schools, local interest groups, social prescribing.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We are already becoming well known and used by local schools and other groups like scouts, cubs, brownies, rainbows and adult groups as a place for education, conservation and purposeful recreation. This will be an added feature for the Community Garden and will attract even more visitors and users. The pond is now well established but currently without safe access.
