About this cause

Sasoss runs a cashless clothing swap shop in East Kilbride. For the last 3 years we have supported over 300 families in the local community providing them the opportunity to swap goods in store. We also donate free clothing and goods to families in crisis vis a referral system with other partner charities. We work with many local agencies and can refer clients to other sources of support and training. With a projected rise of 40% this year we have recently expanded into new premises where we can provide a central location for the swap shop and a meeting place to learn new skills and have access to the information they need to move forward. Our objectives are to reduce poverty, improve community development providing access to information and provide a place to meet and learn new skills.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our project ran as a pilot for 3 years and has already supported over 300 families in our community. Access to a cashless system providing clothing and small goods has been extremely effective in tackling poverty and also has an impact on the environment, reducing landfill. The information we hold and the training we have access to has helped many of our clients improve their conditions of life.
