About this cause

We provide free, confidential advice. Whoever you are. Whatever the problem. We help people overcome their problems and campaign on big issues when their voices need to be heard. We value diversity, champion equality, and challenge discrimination and harassment. Our goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problems they face. In 2016 we dealt with 16,000 issues for 6000 clients. We achieved nearly £3 million in financial gains to the people and economy of Teignbridge. Over 80 highly trained volunteers supported the delivery of our work alongside paid staff. Demand is increasing, but this year we face a 44% funding reduction. We would use this grant to continue to recruit, train and support new volunteers so that they can continue working for their local community.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Volunteers are vital to our work, in partnership with paid staff they provide quality advice and support to thousands of clients each year. We help people solve a broad range of issues mostly about money, benefits, housing and employment. As well as boosting their CV, working with the Citizens Advice gives Volunteers the chance to help make the lives of people in their local community better.
