Boys Brigade – Bridge of Weir Company
Young People
We want to buy gym and sports equipment to replace our old and worn out items.
About this cause
In the last session we had 66 boys attending the Bridge of Weir Company of the Boys Brigade ranging in age from Primary 1 to age 17. Primary 1, 2 and 3 attend the Anchor Boys, Primary 4, 5 and 6 the Juniors and all other boys are in the Company Section. Regular meetings are weekly with a varied programme of activities, speakers, outings and badgework. We take part in sporting and other competitions organised by the Paisley & District Battalion and have one or two activity weekends away each year. The older boys go on to achieve Boys Brigade Queen's and President's Badges alongside Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The objectives are to encourage responsibility and self-respect whilst supporting others and generally having a good time.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We have a well run and very successful Boys Brigade Company in Bridge of Weir which continues to attract new recruits. We expect to have 70 to 80 boys when we start back this month. The boys keep coming back and they recommend the local BB Company to their friends. This year we hope to start a Girls Brigade in Bridge of Weir.
