Young People
We will use the money to take deprived young people from the local area on trips during school holidays.
About this cause
The project works in a highly deprived area of Carlisle, we offer open access youth provision to young people aged 8-19 (25 with additional needs). We offer 3 sessions per week for 50 weeks of the year here at Petteril Bank, we also run a club at Harraby Community Centre CA1 3SN during term time only due to limited funding. During these session we have the usual youth club things like pool,Xbox and table tennis, we also have a craft table this is where we sit and engage with the young people. We discuss the issues that affect them on a day to day basis but also do workshops on the dangers of social media and sexual exploitation and drugs and alcohol. During school holidays we take the young people on various trips to gain new experience they would not normally do.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project helps the local community as it has helped stop anti-social behaviour in the area, It will give the young people something to do rather than hang around on street corners. The youth project is well established and has had many young people through its doors, the chance to take them off the estate and have fun helps their well being.
