Community Development
We aim to develop our new site and garden at Bottisham Village College including the creation of a sensory garden and workshops.
About this cause
We are developing our beautiful new site at Bottisham. The building currently serves as a shop, classroom and horticultural centre. Inspired by our ‘lost skills’ project sharing the skills of our grandparents such as bread making, growing veg, knitting, playground games and craft, we are planning to develop the setting into a tea room and centre where older people, young families and teenagers in the community can enjoy similar events and projects. We believe this will help remove some of the barriers surrounding people with learning disabilities, autism or living with mental ill health and provide a pleasant setting for local people.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our tea room and events (inspired by our Crafty Sew and Sows project sharing the skills of our grandparents such as bread making, growing, knitting, playground games) can be further shared with older people, young families and teenagers in our community. We believe this will help remove some of the barriers surrounding people with learning disabilities, autism or living with mental ill health.
