We want help to increase the number of hospice beds from 8 to 12 so that more local people can be supported during difficult times.
About this cause
During the past seven years the St Kentigern Abergele Support Group have raised money for St Kentigern Hospice and Palliative Care Centre, St Asaph. They do this by holding fund raising events such as coffee mornings and social events within the towns of Abergele and Pensarn and encouraging donations from local people and businesses. During 2017/18 the Group are seeking to raise as much as they can for new beds at a thousand pounds each and new mattresses also at a thousand pounds each to help the Hospice meet their commitments to expand their premises in St Asaph, during the next couple of years, by an additional four bedrooms (they currently have eight) The Abergele Support Group initial target is £4000.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By raising funds to help with the planned expansion at the hospice, the Group hope to support even more patients and their families locally, after terminal illness has been diagnosed. The care and compassion, and indeed the practical assistance the hospice staff provide during these sensitive times is invaluable. They need all the help they can get if this fantastic service is to expand.
