About this cause
Playskill is a small Watford-based charity working to empower physically disabled pre-school children or those with learning difficulties and their families to be healthier and gain skills for life. We provide free specialist parent and child pre-school skills development groups for the children plus training for parents/ carers and social activities for the whole family. At the groups, children and their families receive expert support from a Paediatric Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist. Groups are therapy-led and supported by specialist keyworkers. All children receive 1:1 support at sessions to ensure the best possible chance to thrive. Playskill also provides support to the families, who often report high levels of stress and isolation.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Playskill now has a significant waiting list of families desperate to help their children with a known physical difficulty or an evident motor delay. This will empower stressed and anxious families to be able to help their children develop as fast as possible with the specialist guidance from our therapists, both in the form of training in groups with their children and in separate events.
