About this cause

GREC’s mission is to advance equality for all people in the North East of Scotland. To achieve this our objectives are: • to tackle discrimination - pursuing equality for all; • to promote community cohesion - supporting strong and stable communities and promoting respect for diversity; • to manage diversity - working with partners; providing constructive challenge; and helping to address issues e.g. migration; • to collect evidence and undertake research - gathering information; informing services and policy. We aim to help everyone in the North-East who may be affected by discrimination, prejudice, hate crime or inequality. Our current services and projects include casework and counselling services, community engagement, training, interpreting and translation.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The project will help the community as a whole by ensuring that people from minority communities feel a greater sense of confidence that there is support available for those targeted by prejudice, discrimination & hate crime. This increased confidence will lead to improved community cohesion. Through sign-posting the project will also support people to further engage with their community.
