About this cause

The Ironstone Museum has as its primary aim,the Preservation and Promotion of the ironstone industrial heritage of East Cleveland. We achieve these aims through preserving, conserving and displaying artifacts, photographs and documents and providing an educational and interpretative experience. We collect relevant social memorabilia for use in our displays and provide themed exhibitions and lectures on subjects which reflect the industrial heritage of our region. We provide guided tours to the public and also offer a wide range of educational/craft activities to schools and public throughout the year.We offer outreach sessions to schools and our guides are always pleased to come out and give talks for a small donation. We are playing our part in promoting the regeneration of Skinningrove.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Skinningrove, Loftus and Carlin How are in the lowest 2% most deprived areas in Britain. We have the regeneration of the local area as one of our 4 objectives and see the Iron Valley Club as one way of meeting this. We aim to provide a no cost, caring environment where local children can enjoy learning about local history and their natural environment; instilling a feeling of place and local pride
