We want to turn the old Friday Ad print-works into a day centre for disabled children
About this cause
The Children's Respite Trust provides respite for disabled children and support for their families throughout Sussex and into parts of Surrey and Kent. The Trust has a team of carers who provide respite in the families' homes, giving them the chance to do something that the rest of us take for granted - often this means devoting some much needed time and attention to their other children, who inevitably miss-out on so much. The Charity is currently developing a building in Uckfield to turn into its first respite centre. It will be a fun, welcoming and homely place where children can come for day-care ensuring they have the best time possible while their family gets a much-needed break.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The new centre will provide a space where disabled children throughout the community can enjoy social interaction with others through a variety of stimulating activities. As a result, their parents will have opportunities to do things that the rest of us take for granted including devoting some much-needed time and attention to their other children.
