We want to buy a summer house to convert into a designated, quiet training room where staff can work with the dogs on a one to one basis.
About this cause
Mayflower Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes abandoned, abused and unwanted cats and dogs. Every dog and cat is neutered and vaccinated before leaving us for their new home. All potential homes are visited by a volunteer to make sure the right pet is chosen by the right family. Dogs and cats come to us for many different reasons - financial, homeless, abandoned and unwanted. Whatever the reason its just not their doing and they all deserve a loving home with responsible people. We take the time to retrain and rehabilitate these dogs and cats. We are open to the public 6 days a week so potential adopters can visit and meet their chosen pet. No healthy animal is destroyed at Mayflower.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We have a lot of volunteers who support the charity. When they come to help at the centre they are not permitted into the kennels, however the summer house could be a designated space where they could use their valuable time to make a difference to the dogs, especially those with mobility issues, who like to work with the dogs but dog walking is not possible.
